and flood benefits is a matter of the Corps of Engineers. Whateyer

trying to get a power project. Curecanti has other benefits for
which the Bureau pf Reclamation has given us credit. We think Cure-
canti has values which tie in with our economy."

Mr. Bailey: liThe two matters before us now is to revise Curecanti and

be advisable to direct Mr. Crawford to initiate hearings or whatever
proceedings are necessary with the Corps of Engineers to try to get
these hearings st.arted.1I

Mr. Mo.ses: "Modify that by saying that he will cooperate with t,he
people."

Mr. Bailey: "I see no objection to that. It is a matter that should
be studied and those people should be given the opportunity to give
their story".

Mr. Moses: "1 think it would be logical to initiate the hearings".

Mr. Breitenstein: "If there was official action taken by the Board,
then the Director could say that the State .of Colorado requested that
these hearings should be held."

Mr. Moses: "A'suggp,stion ~as made that the Board instruct the Director
to get these floqd control hearings initiated by the Gorps of Engineers.
Perhaps you people would like to make the opening more yourselves".

Mr. Dille: "I . MOVE that the .Director of this Board be authorized and
instructed to institute the hearings by the Corps of Engineers and
that the Corps of Engineers be asl}ed to conduct such hearings."

Mr. Breitenstein: lilt seems to me tha.t a study of the material sug-
gested by Mr. Jex is probably within the functions and duties of the
Board, and that no specific action is required on that to the extent
of the capacities of the Board. I don 't think any specifi<;: action
