Kuiper and Mr. Dutcher
set forth the local experiences in trying to secure the
Curecanti reservoir. Mr. Hughes did not give any assur-
ance that the ~atter would be approved or rejected when
suhnitted to the Bureau by the Department of the Interior.
We went into details with them. While we received very
courteous treatillent, we were given no assurance, one way
or another, what the action of the Bureau would be, but
they would be glad to consider further the views of the
proponents of the budget."

lVlr. Bailey: "j\>lr. Crawford, do you have any CO:lHnents on
it?"

J'lr. Crawford: "I agree with Hr. Breitenstein's state:nent."

Mr. Tipton: "hr. Hughes, Mr. Swartz and Mr. Peterson
said there was nothing sacred about the A-47."

hr. Bailey: "Anything you wish to add hr. Kuiper?"

Mr. Kuiper: "~ew policies will be included in A-47. At
the ti~e it comes up for consideration, it will be con-
sidered in the light of the policies established between
now and that ti~e."

Mr. Bailey: "Any more questions on A-47? At the last
meeting, we were instructed to make a further study on
Curecanti. j\ir. Gildersleeve can you report on the
Curecanti feasibility and activity?"

I\Ir. Gildersleeve read the following report:

FEASIBILITY OF CURECANTI RESERVOIR FEATURES WITH
RESPECT TO CRITERIA OF CIRCULAR NO. A-47,
BUREAU OF THE BUDGET

I

December 9, 1953

At recent meetings of the Policy and Review
Committee, Gunnison River Storage, and the Colo-
rado Water Conservation Board, the Hureau of Re-
clamation present?d data relative to a Curecanti
Reservoir with a capacity of approximately 940,000
acre feet, indicating a cost of power delivered
to'~arket of 11.1 illills per k.w.h. if the entire
cost of the reservoir should be charged to the
production of electric energy. The Bureau also
stated that to be consistent with the allocation
of ~5,000,000 to river regulat~on on Whitewater
Reservoir as shown on a preli~inary incremental
analysis, a co~parable allocation on Curecanti
would result in a power cost of about 10 mills
per k.w.h.
