I am sure that Mrs. Keating would like to
know who is coming for lunch. If you have not
bought your tickets and they are a bargain rate
during these inflationary times as we have
mentioned before, would you please buy them as
quickly as you can so we can know how many there
will be for lunch.

I would like to make a personal appeal.
When you look into your fall wardrobe next fall
and you see a hat that you would never wear
yourself, please think of me. It is old and
decrepit but I loved it and somebody took it
at our last Board meeting.

We will go to the report of the Soil Con-
servation Service and I'd like to call on Fred
Mark, the state conservationist. Fred."

MR. MARK.

"Mr. Cha,irman, Board member s, ladies and
gentlemen, I consider it an opportunity and
indeed a pleasure to meet with you people today
to tell you something about the Soil Conserva-
tion Service programs because they are quite
varied and cover a multitude of conservation
aspects.

The Soil Conservation Service is the techni-
cal soil and water conservation agency of the
U. S. Department of Agriculture. It is respon-
sible for developing and carrying out a national
program of conservation for land and water
resources.

The Soil Conservation Service administers
USDA activities involving technical assistance
in soil and water conservation and technical and
financial assistance for planning and executing
programs to protect and improve water and re-
lated land resources in small watersheds. It
gives technical information services needed by
other agencies in related programs.
