last year appropriated $100,000 to fund 1967
legislation which provided waste treatment con-
struction grants to destitute communities from
state sources. The staff has now prepared
application forms, contract forms, and a set of
criteria on which the commission will act upon
for distributing this state assistance which, so
far, is in the amount of $100,000.

A feedlot survey was conducted statewide
by a temporary employee and the results are
presently being cross checked with a computer
list of feedlots in the state to arrive at a
final up-to-date list of feedlots. Criteria for
waste treatment facilities for feedlots are
presently under preparation.

A total of 166 inspections or visits were
made to 118 industrial waste treatment plants.
A total of 201 inspections were made on munici-
pal, state and federal waste treatment plants.
20 sets of plans and/or reports were reviewed
for proposed industrial waste facilities repre-
senting an estimated cost of construction of
these new facilities of $65~ million.

A document, 'Criteria Review of Waste Watel
Treatment Facilities', has been updated. A
septic tank booklet was developed and prepared
in cooperation with the Colorado State Univer-
sity.

Rules and regulations for subsurface dis-
posal systems have been developed and approved
by the Water Pollution Control Commission and
are expected to be cleared through the attorney
general's office shortly.

Proposed changes in water quality standards
and proposed changes in stream classifications
were developed by the staff and hearings were
held in March and April of this year. Adoption
is expected of these, in some form, by the Water
Pollution Control Commission in June or July of
this year. The meeting next Tuesday will probably
consider these proposed changes.
