William McDonald
Director
Colorado Water Conservation Board
state Centennial Building, 8th Floor
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203

4It Dear Bill:

Re: Bear Creek Lake storage

.

We wish to inform you that the Cities of Englewood and
Littleton would like to be considered as applicants for a
percentage of the available storage space in Bear Creek
Lake. The reason for our desire to acquire space is to have
water available for the maintenance of stream flows
throughout the reach of the South Platte River from its
confluence with Bear Creek to the Burlington Ditch.

We have made a proposal to the Platte River Greenway
Foundation and Central Colorado Water Conservancy District
to work together with them in securing this objective and to
share the storage space and costs under a formula which has
yet to be developed.

On behalf of Englewood and Littleton, I would like to
encourage the Board's staff to participate with the two
Cities and the Platte River Greenway Foundation in looking
at this possibility because it would also have substantial
benefits to the potential for an instream flow throughout
the Metropolitan region. As you know, Platte River Greenway
has applied for an instream flow. as well as storage space
in Chatfield Reservoir. '1 am of the view that the Water
Conservation Board is the appropriate entity to obtain that
