Introduction
At the meeting of the CWCB Finance Committee, questions were raised about using
funds from the CWCB Construction Fund for floodplain mapping projects. The Board
members on the Finance Committee felt these questions merited discussion by the full
Board prior to making final decisions on funding the proposed Floodplain Mapping
Program.

Obiective
To preliminarily discuss the following questions and frame the more detailed discussion
to be held at the July 2001 Board meeting and to make a decision on the specific proposal
for a Floodplain Mapping Program presented by the Flood Protection Section:

I) Is there a state responsibility to participate financially in the preparation of
floodplain maps for Colorado communities? Ifso, how much of that
responsibility should fall on the Board and its funding programs?

2) Should there be a long-term floodplain mapping program in Colorado, funded at
least in part at the state level? Should any such state funding be provided by the
Board?

3) How do the staff FY 01-02 mapping study recommendations listed below fit into
an overall prioritization of study needs for the entire state?
