Stream Gaging and Monitoring

Grantee/Contractor: Division of Water Resources (DWR), the U.S, Geological Survey
(USGS), CWCB and other private or municipal entities,

Amount of request: $50,000

Description: New stream gages, improvements to existing stream gages such as the
addition of satellite telemetry equipment, as well as other hydrologic and climatologic
instrumentation that will provide the Board with raw water resources data. This is a
statewide effort to obtain and maintain water resources data that is used by the state and
many other entities for the purpose of water supply planning, development, protection,
and monitoring. With recent cuts in federal programs that have historically supplied
much of this data, there is a critical need to continue to not only maintain data collection
at existing sites, but to expand the program into other streams and watersheds. The
state's Decision Support Systems, which have been or are currently being developed,
cannot operate adequately without this raw data.

Water Conservation Planning Program

1.
