"You think this is improving as time goes
on, then?"

"What's that?"

"This 10,000."

"No, I didn't say that 10,000 acre-feet
was an improvement over 20,000 acre-feet.
This is more or less a compromise as I under-
stand it and it was my understanding at the
time that it was a compromise. That in all
likelihood it would be almost impossible to
gain 20,000 acre-feet invasion into the flood
storage."

MR. BURR:

"20,000 would be too much damage but
10,000 would be just half as much?"

MR. ELLIOTT:

"I didn I t say that either."

MR. BURR:

"Thank you, sir."

MR. PETERSON:

"Mr. Elliott, I would like to ask you a
question. Have you made any investigation as
to where you would obtain this water to both
fill the initial filling and to take ,care of
the. evaporation?"

MR. ELLIOTT:

"We will have to ferret out any water that
might be available. We have, of course,
talked with various people in the Valley where
this water might be available for purchase. I
will say this, that we certainly will not pur-
chase it unless it is for sale."

MR. PETERSON:

"The thing I am interested in, you are not
making any plans to purchase this water on the
western slope of Colorado, are you?"

MR. ELLIOTT:

"We are a state agency and we must serve
all parts of the state equally."
