the increase in the debit. That may be in the
last ten years but not since the signing of the

"We've been faced with a heck of a drought
down there and anything we can do to alleviate
this thing will help. I think another thing
that might be looked into is this small San
Antonio River. It overflows during the spring
flood into New Mexico before it gets to the
gaging station whereby we lose some water for
credit; if it's only 1,000 acre-feet, it is
1,000 acre-feet. If we can get some rechannel-
ization work done on the San Antonio as well as
on the Conejos and Rio Grande it would increase
our flow a lot.

"While we are on that subject I would like
to amplify what Mr. Cornelius has said relative
to the interest of the people in the area. The
Conejos and San Antonio Rivers particularly, to
have something done to assist them in some re-
channelization and phreatophyte elimination;
work that they feel is beyond their means to
handle financially but they feel they would like
to have some aid in it if they can get it.

I made a trip down there a short time ago
at the request of the Conejos Conservancy Dis-
trict Board and we went over the San Antonio
River in particular. At that time we held an
evening meeting and discussed things that should
