...

-5-

meetings will be conducted in the first week of February 2005 with the comment period extended to March I,
2005.

At the May 5, 2004 General Chatfield Progress Meeting, the Corps presented the opportunities for providing
additional water supply space. These opportunities are:
1. Change the reselVoir's outflow release rate from 5,000 cfs to 7,000 cfs in the reselVoir water control
manual's operating plan. Note: This opportunity was determined not to be acceptable to the Corps.
2. Perform an Antecedent Flood Study, which will consider a reduction in the Inflow Design Flood
routing condition from 50% of a Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) to 40% of the PMF.
3. Increase the width of the Emergency Spillway by 100 feet.
4. Construct a 3.5 feet high concrete parapet wall across the top of the Dam, which would increase the
Spillway Surcharge Pool.

At the May 5th meeting the Chatfield Group unanimously recommended that the Corps immediately commence
with the Antecedent Flood Study. The CWCB executed Change Order Letter No.04-02 to assist in the funding
of this important study.

Staff Recommendation

No Board recommendation is required at this time. This is an informational item; however, the Board may want
to express its concern to the Corps that they will keep focus on the fact that there is a great need for additional
water supply storage in Colorado.

).
