<br />el <br /> <br />e) <br /> <br />) <br /> <br />the DWR participation in efforts to obtain more accurate weather and evapotranspiration data to <br />utilize in future HI model runs. <br /> <br />Lessons Learned: I have attached a copy of the recent keynote presentation made by Dennis <br />Montgomery regarding the Arkansas River case. <br /> <br />Palmer Divide Water Group: We have provided a local water planning grant using Severance Tax Trust <br />Fund Operational Account funds to the Palmer Divide Water Group. In return for the funds the Group <br />will complete a study by June 1. The major tasks included in the study are: <br /> <br />1. Evaluate Large-Scale Ground Water Development Potential <br />2. Evaluate Regional Conveyance Alternatives <br />3. Evaluate Regional Surface and Subsurface Storage Alternatives <br />4. Develop Integrated Raw Water, Conveyance, and Storage Scenario <br />5. Prepare Draft!Final Report <br /> <br />If you would like a copy of the complete scope of work, please let me now. I hope this project <br />will dovetail into our SWSI process. <br /> <br />Colorado River Basin <br /> <br />Wolford Mountain Reservoir Enlargement: The Colorado River Water Conservation District <br />and Denver Water are discussing the potential enlargement Wolford Mountain Reservoir by <br />raising the dam approximately 6 feet. The enlargement would add approximately 9,775 acre-feet <br />to the existing 66,000 acre-foot reservoir. No timeline for the enlargement was announced. <br /> <br />Upper Colorado River Commission Executive Director: Wayne Cook has indicated that he is <br />going to retire in the very near future and towards that end has released a job vacancy <br />announcement for his position, which is open through Feb. 22. The announcement is posted on <br />the DNR, CWCB and State Personnel websites, on other upper basin state websites and in other <br />publications around the region. <br /> <br />Qualified candidates must have significant experience in the legal, political, public and technical <br />activities undertaken to coordinate operations of a major river system similar to the Colorado <br />River. They must also have excellent leadership, organizational, management and interpersonal <br />skills to coordinate the activities and political positions of the four states, as well as representing <br />the Commission at high-level public meetings and congressional hearings including <br />presentations at such meetings. <br /> <br />Qualified candidates must possess at least a college degree in engineering, natural resources or <br />law. They must also have a minimum of 12 years of significant experience in the management <br />and technical aspects of operation of a major river basin. Experience in or understanding of <br />runoff forecasting, river operations modeling, reservoir system operations, river mechanics, <br />advice in interstate water matters and environmental compliance programs will be important <br />qualifications. <br /> <br />The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000 annually, depending on experience. The <br />Commission also has an excellent benefits package, which includes medical and dental insurance <br />as well as 40lk savings opportunities. The theme this year was "Drought or Opportunity." The <br />Association adopted its usual suite of resolutions and position statements concerning matters <br />such as ESA and the Clean Water Act making revisions to their resolution on the "Maximum <br />Utilization of Existing Water Supply Facilities" and adding a new resolution in support of the <br /> <br />15 <br />
