river upstream of the city of Grand Junction, Colorado. The purpose of
the study is to describe the quantity, tipling, and causes of streamflow
gains and losses in order to more I efficiently manage reservoirs,
administer water rights, and implement endangered species programs.
The board in consultation with the Unites States geological surVey will
develop the project scope of work.
(2) In addition to any other, appropriation, there is hereby
appropriated, out of any moneys in the Colorado water conservation
board construction fund not otherwise appropriated, to the, Colorado
water conservation board for allocation to the United States geological
survey, the swn of fifty-nine thousand four hundred sixty dollars
($59,460), or so much thereof as may bl: necessary, for costs associated

with the completion of the Gunnison river streamflow study.
(3) The moneys appropriated in subsection (2) of this section shall
remain available for the designated pwposes until the project is
completed.
SECTION 14. Statewide I water yields assessment -
appropriation. (1) The department of natural resources is hereby
authorized to contract with a responsible contractor for the pwpose of
preparing a reconnaissance-level stu~y to assess the stream flows
originating on United States forest sej:vice land in Colorado and the
impacts that past and futuremanagemenl practices have had, or will have,
on water yields. The study will result in a report that ,demonstrates the
impacts of the United States forest serrce current forest management
practices on water yields from nationall forest lands in Colorado.
(2) In addition to any other! appropriation, there is hereby
appropriated, out of any moneys in the Colorado water conservation
