ing at which we attempted to resolve the con-
flict.

The Highway Department then graciously
agreed to defer their plans in that particular
area until we can get some official considera-
tion of the Hount Carbon Project."

"If you go ahead \~i th the Hount Carbon
project will there have to be a relocation
of some of the highway construction that has
already been completed?"

"It is not in the area now and the amount
of high\'lay improvement that would go through
the Mount Carbon site is approximately 1.3
miles. In our discussions with the Highway
Department, (this is not firm), it appears
that the relocation would involve 2-1/2 miles.
In other \~ords, the al_ternate route would
involve 2-1/2 miles, essentially coming up
Weaver Creek Valley, getting on to Quincy
Avenue and then meeting the planned route in
Turkey Creek Valley and on to Fairplay."

"Joe, are you altlare of the amount of
funds that are available, or still available,
or are there any still available, in your
emergency repair appropriation for flood dam-
age on the Platte?"

"Public Laltl 99 money?"

"I couldn't say. That's in the custody
of the Chief of Engineers and we do not get
allocations of Public Law 99 money in the
districts until we make a request on the
basis of particular emergencies."
