I

I

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. WOOD:

MR . ~iOSES:

MR. WOOD:

~....,...,.

of ground-water pumpage on seepage to and
from the river: This evaiuation would not
only evaluate, the percentage of pumped water
that comes from the river and amount of river
depletion but also the timing of the effect of
pumping.

2. Outline area where ground-water sup-
plies could be developed to satisfy senior
appropriation water rights downstream from
junior appropriators.

3., Provide a means of predicting water
availability in different areas under differ-
ent conditions of precipitation, surface
water deliveries, and ground-water pumpage.

4., Define areas where additional ground-
water withdrawals would be beneficial, such
as salvage of ground water that is now being
evaporated or transpired nonbeneficially.

These are some of the uses that might
be put to the analog."

"Are you going to issue a report or what
happens after you get all this work done?"

"Yes, sir. There will be a water supply
paper but before that there will be a basic
data report and hydrologic data describing
the situation in the valley."

"Will tha:: model remain in Phoenix?"

"I think the model \"ill remain there
because of not only its physical si~e but
because of all of the equipment which is
connected to the model in order to use it.
There is probably $50,000 worth of equipment
connected to the model when the model is being
operated. Also they have the people there
that have the skills and the knowledge to use
it. It is less than a two hour plane ride
from here to Phoenix and I think it would
be more practical to leave it there."
