Raised almost $60,000 in memberships in 2004-05, a 17 percent increase from last year; <br />. Held Hoppe Reception, May 18, raising $5,500; and <br />. Generated some $21,200 from sales of publications and magazines. <br /> <br />Other somces of funding included grants from Water for the West, and the Colorado Endowment <br />for the Humanities, and well as donations and event sponsorships. <br /> <br />The Foundation also contracted with an independent fundraising consultant, Mrs. Jenna Spendlove, <br />on a part-time basis to help the Foundation develop its fundraising base. <br /> <br />Presentations and Outreach <br />CFWE Executive Director Karla made numerous presentations to local and regional water interests. <br /> <br />K-12 Education <br />The Foundation pioneered an on-line comse for teachers called "Teaching the Poetry of River." <br />The course is designed to support the nationally renowned River of Words poetry contest and <br />combine resomces and instruction on watershed science, literature and writing. Since the comse <br />was implemented in Fall 2004, River of Words contest submissions in February jumped from 200 to <br />more then 600 entries. <br /> <br />e <br />
