<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />130 <br /> <br />In April 1996, the CWCB staff reviewed the report and requested that the District update the study prior to <br />entering into a contract for a construction loan. <br /> <br />Alamosa-La Jara Water Conservancy District - AIamosa River Watershed Proiect <br />Authorization: lIB 00-1419 Grant Amount: $300,000 <br />Water Source: Alamosa River Project Type: Steam St~i1ization <br />Location: Terrace Res. to La Jara in Conejos County Project Manager: Brian Hyde <br /> <br />This project will involve the final design and construction of river restoration improvements on the <br />Alamosa River downstream of Terrace Reservoir. The river was straightened in the 1970's, leading to serious <br />instability and erosion problems. A master plan for the reach between Terrace Reservoir and U.S. Highway 285 <br />has been prepared. This project will focus on the sub-reach in the Capulin area. hnprovements will include <br />realignment of the channel, bank protection, weirs and other flow control structures. A Scope of Work is currently <br />being developed. It will address the steps of design, constnlction, maintenance, and monitoring. <br /> <br />Mesa County - Bosley Wash Feasibility Study and Demonstration Project <br />Authorization: lIB 00~1419 Grant Amount: $50,000 <br />Water Source: N/A Project Type: Flood Control <br />Location: Mesa County - near Clifton Project Manager: Larry Lang <br /> <br />This project is a Drainageway Master Planning, Preliminary Drainage Design, Floodplain Delineation <br />Study on Bosley Wash and Stub Ditch with the Grand Valley. The stream experienced three major flood events in <br />the summer 1999. HDR Engineering was selected to perform the engineering work for this project, and a contract <br />has been signed with Mesa County. Work on the project is underway at this time. <br /> <br />National Education Foundation <br />Authorization: HB 00-1419 <br />Water Source: N/A <br />Location: Statewide <br /> <br />Grant Amount: $100,000 <br />Project Type: Educational <br />Project Manager: Dan McAuliffe <br /> <br />This two-year project consists of the development and distribution of the "Learning to be WaterWise" <br />Program to intermediate grade school students and households throughout Colorado beginning in the <br />2000/2001 school year. With the funding provided by the CWCB grant and matching funds from local <br />sources, the Program seeks to reach over 6,000 students. About $25,000 will spent putting a variety of <br />educational material on CD's for distribution in the fa112000. A $50,000 contract is expected to be signed with <br />the Learning to be WaterWise program for distribution purposes. The remaining funds will be held pending <br />further review and reconunendation from the Colorado Water Congress Education Subconunittee. <br /> <br />Severance Tax Trust Fund Operational Account Grants <br /> <br />Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District - Water and Storage Needs Assessment <br />Authorization: lIB Grant Amount: $100,000 <br />Water Source: Purgatoire River Project Type: Water Supply Study <br />Location: Pueblo Project Manager: Steve Miller <br /> <br />This project is being conducted by an enterprise created by the Southeastern Colorado Warer <br />Conservancy District [SECWCD} in conjunction with municipal and agricultural water users with its service <br />area. In prior years, Phases I and II received CWCB grants of $100,000 from the severance tax account for an <br />analysis of future water supply and storage needs in the lower Arkansas basin [Buena Vista to Lamar}. Phases <br />I and II resulted in a quantification of needed storage space and a Preferred Storage Options Plan for meeting <br />these needs. This work is now complete, and a required, detailed presentation to the CWCB will made within <br />the next 6 months. <br /> <br />CWCB - Regional Planning Meetings/Watershed Planning <br />Authorization: FY 200 1 Grant Amount: $40,000 <br />
