<br />12 <br /> <br />CWCB contracted with Icon Engineering, Inc. to perform an engineering investigation for Elk River <br />watershed study and streambank stabilization project on the lower one mile of the river. The study is now <br />complete and developed the hydrologic and hydraulic characteristics of the watershed and provided <br />engineering recommendations for the stabilization of the ilk River streambank upstream of Highway 40. . <br />Following the Icon study, some landowners along the river contracted with an independent consultant and <br />privately funded river restoration work. CWCB staff has no further funding requests or projects on the lower <br />Elk River at this time. . <br /> <br />Town ofPaonia Water Sup.,plv Feasibilit' Study <br />Authorization: SB 99-173 <br />Water Source: <br />Location: Paonia <br /> <br />Grant Amount: $10,000 <br />Project Type: Feasibility Study <br />Project Manager: Bill Green <br /> <br />The Town of Paonia has hired a group of consulting firms to conduct a feasibility study of potential <br />improvements to the Town's raw water supply system. The study is focusing on various alternatives for additional <br />raw water storage. Currently the Town is entirely reliant on a system of springs with very little storage. A'draft <br />report was submitted by the consultants in April of 2000 and the Town is presently considering the alternatives <br />presented in the report. A final report is expected in June 2001. <br /> <br />, <br />El Paso Count' Water Authority - El Paso County Water: Master Plan <br />Authorization: lIB 00-1419 Orant Amount: $200,000 <br />Water Source: Project Type: Water Supply Study <br />Location: El Paso County Project Manager: Tim Feehan <br /> <br />This project is the preparation of a Water Master Plan for EI Paso County by a group of 17 water <br />providers in the County who have formed the El Paso Co~ty Water Authority. The Authority has adopted a five- <br />year program of technical studies aimed at the developmeqt of a long range, cOWltywide Water Master Plan. The <br />purpose of the plan is to develop water resources, systems. and facilities in whole or in part for the benefit of . <br />Authority members and their inhabitants, and other reside~ts of the county, now and into thefuture. Phases 1, 2A, <br />and 2B have been completed by John C. Halepaska & Associates in association with Knight Piesold and Co. <br />Award of Phases 3, 4B, 4C, 4D, and 4E to Halepaska/Piesold is scheduled for approval in November 2000. The <br />preparation of a CWCB funding contract and scope of work is in draft form. <br /> <br />North Fork hnurovement Association - Paonia Reservoir Rehabilitation <br />Authorization: lIB 00-1419 ;Grant Amount: $55,000 <br />Water Source: N. Fork Gunnison River Project type: Watershed Planning Study <br />Location: Delta County - 20 miles E. ofPaonia Project ~anager: Brian Hyde <br /> <br />The North Fork Improvement Association (NFIA) is a non-profit corporation with a mission to meet <br />current and future demands for traditional uses of the river while improving stream stability, riparian habitat, and <br />ecosystem function along the North Fork of the Gunnison River. An important aspect of the river system is the <br />Paonia Reservoir, and the Association will use this grant to study the Reservoir's effect on the North Fork. The <br />study will be conducted by CSU and administered by the :Association. Grant contracting and development of the <br />plan of study is cUlTently underway. ' <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />Paiosa Area Water and Sanitation District - Feasibility Studv <br />Authorization: HB 93-1273 i <br />Water Source: Dutton Creek <br />Location: Five miles northwest ofPagosa Springs <br /> <br />Grant AmOWlt: $5,000 <br />Project Type: Feasibility Study <br />Project Manager: Bill Green <br /> <br />The District will prepare an updated feasibility si4dy (with consulting assistance) for the enlargement of <br />the District's existing Steven's Lake Dam and Reservoir. the reservoir has a capacity of 635 acre-feet and is <br />located on Dutton Creek about five miles northwest ofr:agosa Springs. A feasibility study for the project was . <br />first submitted in October 1992. The project was approv~d by the Board and authorized for $1,912,000 in HB <br />93-1273. <br />
