Project beneficiaries include the <br />Southern Ute, Ute Mountain Ute and Navajo Indian tribes as well as the cities of Durango, Farmington, New <br />Mexico and other communities in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico. The project is a crucial <br />element in the Colorado Ute Indian Water Rights Settlement Act of 1988. A Final Supplemental <br />Environmental Impact Statement for the project was released in July 2000. The project received congressional <br />authorization in December 2000. <br /> <br />South Platte Lower River Group (SPLRG) - Augmentation Proiects <br />Authorization: SB 96-153 SB 97-008 Grant AmOWlt: $135,000 <br />Water Source: South Platte River Project Type: Grndwtr Augmentation <br />Location: Water District 64; South Platte River Project Manager: John Van Sciver <br /> <br />The purpose of this proj ect is to demonstrate how managed ground water systems can be used to <br />provide augmentation water for jWlior wells, in compliance with the South Platte River Compact. Eight <br />demonstration projects were fully or partially funded, and the $135,000 grant amount has been expended. <br />SPLRG has requested additional funding for a pilot demonstration project, starting in 2001. Project <br />participants include the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District, the Lower South Platte Water <br />Conservancy District, Ground Water Appropriators of the South Platte, the Platte River Project, and the <br />Colorado Division of Wildlife. <br /> <br />South Platte Lower River Groun (SPLRG) - Tamarack Project <br />Authorization: SB 97..()08 Grant Amount: $240,000 <br />Water Source: South Platte River Project Type: Augmentation Project <br />Location: Water District 64; South Platte River Project Manager: John Van Sciver <br /> <br />This project consists of a series of managed groundwater subprojects located within the Tamarack <br />Ranch State Wildlife area, the Pony Express State Wildlife area, and other areas adjacent to the South Platte <br />River in Logan and Sedgwick Counties. The purpose is to pump water from the South Platte River during <br />times of surplus and deliver this water to infiltration areas. Water then percolates back to the river and <br />provides augmentation during times of shortage. Seven wells have been completed to date, and funding will be <br />fully expended by 2001. Project participants include the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District, the <br />Lower South Platte Water Conservancy District, Ground Water Appropriators of the South Platte, the Platte <br />River Project, and the Colorado Division of Wildlife. <br /> <br />CWCB - Colorado River Decision Support System <br />Authorization: SB 96-153 <br />Water Source: Colorado River <br />Location: Colorado River <br /> <br />Grant Amount: $6,000,000 <br />Project Type: Decision Support System <br />Project Manager: Randy Seaholm <br /> <br />The Colorado River Decision Support System (CRDSS) is a multi-year project that began in 1993 that <br />has databases and models which provide improved data and decision making capability for many critical <br />Colorado River planning, administrative and operational issues.
