Consolidated Mutual Water Company - Fortune Resewoir Dam Construction <br /> <br />Authorization: SB 99-173 County: Jefferson - NW of Arvada <br />Water Source: Clear Creek Project Yield: 8,869 ac.ft. <br />Terms of Loan: $16,300,000 @4.75% for 10 yearsProject Type: New Dam Construction <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />This $20,000,000 project is the construction of a new 9,000 acre-foot reservoir northwest of Arvada. The <br />project consists of a I05-foot high, zoned earth embantonent, Probable Maximum Flood emergency spillway, with <br />a 30-inch diameter outlet pipe. Tuttle-Applegate, Inc. of penver and CfIlThompson completed the flnal design <br />plans, which have been reviewed and approved by the state Engineer's Office. The construction contract was <br />awarded to R.E. Monk from Colorado Springs, Colorado,; at a contract price of $15,000,000. The distribution <br />pipeline from the dam to the Company's treatment plant commenced construction in October 1999 by Company <br />forces. R.E. Monk commenced construction in March of :2000, with project completion scheduled for March of <br />2002. The project is approximately 50% complete. <br /> <br />5. West Rhone Lateral Ditch Company - Lateral Reconstruction Proiect <br /> <br />Authorization: Small Project Loan <br />Water Source: Grand Valley Canal <br />Terms of Loan: $100,000 @3.55% for 30 yrs~ <br /> <br />County: Weld - N. of Grand Junction <br />Project Yield: 2,278 acre feet <br />Project type: Ditch Lateral Reconst. <br /> <br />This project involves the reconfiguration of the West Rhone Lateral Ditch Company's existing lateral, <br />which is currently operated under Lateral 395. West Rhone's current use under Lateral 395 has been <br />abandoned and new lateral and diversion point off the Grand Valley Canal is being constructed. The new <br />lateral involves 1.25 miles of 12" 100 psi plastic pipe on:a new alignment and the construction of a new . <br />diversion structure on the Grand Valley Canal. The NReS, Grand Junction office has completed the design <br />and the project has been awarded to EDEX Construction; out of Grand Jooction, Colorado. The Contractor <br />has completed the project, with the exception of fencing Imd general cleanup. The project is anticipated to be <br />substantially complete by June 1,2001. <br /> <br />6. Idaho Springs. Town of Idaho - Idaho Springs Reservoir Rehabilitation <br /> <br />Authorization: HB 98-1189 <br />Water Source: Chicago Creek <br />Terms of Loan: $955,000 @ 4.75% for 10 yrs. <br /> <br />. County: Larimer - S. ofIdaho Springs <br />: Project Yield: 230 acre feet <br />Project [I'ype: Reservoir Rehabilitation <br /> <br />In 1998 the State Engineer's Office restricted the storage height of the reservoir to be 9-ft. below the crest <br />of the dam, reducing the storage capacity from 230 acr~-ft. to 120 acre-ft. The storage restriction was due to <br />excessive seepage and the poor condition of the spillway. : Harrison Western Construction, and design/build group <br />out of Denver, Colorado, was retained by the Town to design and construct the necessary improvements to restore <br />the dam to its original storage capacity of 230 acre-feet. The proposed improvements include, constructing a <br />compacted earthfill liner on the upstream slope of the reservoir and floor, construct new toe drains, raise the <br />embanlanent dam crest by 2.5-ft., place rip rap and lin~r protection material above the earthfill tiner, spillway <br />repairs, and fill the old borrow pit within the reservpir. Harrison Western Construction has commenced <br />construction in rehabilitating the dam face and will continiue working as weather pennits. Project is anticipated to <br />be completed in the faU of200!. I <br /> <br />7.
