<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />111 <br /> <br />Water Supply Planning and Finance Section <br />Design and Construction Status Report <br /> <br />The CWCB Water Supply Planning and Finance Section has completed 10 projects in FY 00-01. <br />Currently we have II projects under construction and 16 projects in the design phase. The attached spreadsheet <br />summarizes project status including budget, construction schedule, and progress to date. During this current <br />reporting period 4 projects were completed. The attached progress report briefly outlines all active project design <br />and construction information and progress to date. <br /> <br />Projects under Construction <br /> <br />1. Excelsior lrrigating Company - Excelsior Ditch Rehabilitation <br /> <br />Authorization: SB 97-008 <br />Water Source: Arkansas River <br />Tenns of Loan: $251,125 @3.75%for30yrs <br /> <br />County: Pueblo - E of Pueblo <br />Project Yield: 4,250 ac.ft. <br />Project Type: Ditch Rehabilitation <br /> <br />This $335,000 project is the re-construction of approximately 2 miles of open ditch. which has previously <br />been abandoned and farmed over. Also included in the project is the construction of several pump stations for <br />water delivery. The project is located in Pueblo County 10 miles east of Pueblo. Project design was prepared by <br />the Pueblo Office of the Natural Resource Conservation Service, Ralph Adkins, P.E. of Pueblo, Irrigation <br />Engineering of Alamosa and Hendrooke Sprinklers ofFt. Collins. Project construction connnenced by the owner <br />and several sub-contractors in May 1998 and was originally scheduled for completion in the fall of 1999. <br />Flooding damaged the project area during the sununer of 1999 that has delayed the project's completion schedule <br />until the fall/winter of 200 1. <br /> <br />2. Otero Ditch Company - Diversion Structure Rehabilitation <br /> <br />Authorization: SB <br />Water Source: Arkansas River <br />Tenns of Loan: $155,000 @4.0% for 30 yrs <br /> <br />County: Otero - N.W. of Fowler <br />Project Yield: 20,687 ac.ft. <br />Project Type: Diversion Structure <br /> <br />The Otero Ditch Company diverts water directly from the Arkansas River approximately I-mile <br />northwest of the Town of Fowler. The existing diversion structure and right abutment were washed out during <br />flooding in April and May of 1999. This $620,000 project involves stabilizing 2000 I.f. of streambank, the <br />construction of a 182-ft. long concrete diversion wall, 3-ft. high with a I1-ft. wide concrete stilling basin, and <br />a new concrete outlet control structure with a 20-ft wide by 8-ft. high opening. The Natural Resource <br />Conservation Service (NRCS), who is additionally funding 75% of the total construction cost, designed the <br />project. Schrepfer Industries, from Trinidad, Colorado, commenced construction in January of 2000 and have <br />completed the work. The Otero Ditch Company is currently operating the new outlet and diversion structures. <br />Project substantial completion is tentatively scheduled for June I, 2001. <br /> <br />3. Ute Water Conservancy District - Plateau Creek Pipeline <br /> <br />Authorization: SB 88-30 County: Mesa - E of Palisade <br />Water Source: Grand Mesa Drainage Project Yield: 7,200 ac.ft. <br />Tenns of Loan: $27,600,000 @ 5% for 30 years Project Type: Pipeline Construction <br /> <br />This $55,000,000 project is the replacement of an existing IS-mile pipeline providing water to the Ute <br />Water Conservancy District. The District provides water to 55,000 people, or more than half of the Grand Valley <br />population. Camp, Dresser, & McKee, Inc. of Denver has completed final design and construction contract <br />documents for Phase II of the project. Phase I of the project, placement of the lower 8,000 linear foot of the <br />pipeline, conunenced in February by ERS Constructors, Inc. of Sedalia, CO. and was completed in May 1999. <br />Phase II involves the installation of 26,000-ft. of 48" waterline pipe, 29,500-ft. of 54" waterline pipe, and the <br />construction of 13,500-ft. of 10' diameter tunnel. A joint venture between Barnard Construction, Inc. of Bozeman, <br />Montana and Aftholder Construction, Inc. of Chesterfield, Missouri was awarded the construction contract for <br />
