I appreciated the opportunity for the discussion we had with our board chairs (Mr. Catlin and
Ms. Nichols) on January 27 concerning the Authority's prior request to mutually terminate the
1997 MemorandwnofUnderstanding ("MOU') between the CWCB and the Authority. As
we agreed on the 27th, the MOU is no longer needed to provide the appropriate coordination
or communication on the funding of water projects or the initiation of basinwide water project
feasibility studies. The staffs of the two agencies are cooperating and coordinating fully on
all such activities.

Since all parties agreed to terminate the MOU, the Authority's Board acted in favor of the
termination at its January 28 meeting. It is anticipated that the CWCB will take similar action
at its March 22-23 meeting.

Upon the CWCB's action to terminate the MOU, please forward a letter for our files
indicating the date of such action.
