<br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />To: Colorado Water Conservation Board Members <br />From: Karla Brown, Colorado Foundation for Water Education <br />Date: January 7, 2005 <br />Re: Quarterly Update <br /> <br />Administration <br />December 27, 2004 the Foundation hired a new Administrative Assistant Jeannine Tompkins. Jeannine <br />will work 30 hours a week, Monday through Thursday. <br /> <br />Educational Prol!rams <br />The winter issue of Headwaters magazine "Planning for Colorado's Water Future" is now available. <br />Topics covered included a review of the results of the Statewide Water Supply Initiative (SWSI), a feature on the <br />CSU Water Archives, and Restoration Projects to Improve Winter Fisheries. Future magazine themes will include <br />the Endangered Species Act (spring) and river restoration projects around the state (summer). <br />This fall the Foundation released its Citizen's Guide to Colorado's Water Heritage. Selecting different <br />historical time periods, prominent cultural figures, and river basins around the state, their essays address topics <br />from Puebloan reservoirs in Mesa Verde, to the Reclamation Era and the construction of big dams. We are <br />particularly excited to bring to the public's attention Colorado's Native American, Hispano, and Anglo <br />contributions to our water heritage. <br />In December, the Foundation received a $25,000 grant from the Bureau of Reclamation's Water for the <br />West organization. These monies will be used to design and publish the Citizen's Guide to Where Your Water <br />Comes From authored by CSU professor Neil S. Grigg. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Annual Report <br />As part of the Foundation's annual contractual obligations to the CWCB, enclosed in your packets you will <br />find the Colorado Foundationfor Water Education 2003-2004 Annual Report. <br /> <br />Chanl!es to the Board of Directors <br />The Foundation is pleased to welcome John Redifer to the CFWE Board of Trustees. In addition, as <br />specified in the CFWE bylaws, the Foundation will also welcome the new heads of the Senate and House <br />Agriculture Committees, State Representative KatWeen Curry, and State Senator Jim Isgar. Representative Diane <br />Hoppe (former House Ag Committee Chair) will continue to serve as CFWE Board President, sitting as the 23'" <br />board member in an "at large" seat. <br /> <br />Upcominl!
