6077

I

The contractor for construction of the
Divide, South Fork, and Chapman Tunnels, and
appurtenant structures of the South Side
Collection System has completed 87.1 percent
of the contract with 90.1 percent of the
contract time elapsed. Lining of the Chap-
man tunnel is essentially complete, and the
South Fork tunnel lacks only the paved invert.
OUtside work, consisting mainly of diversion
structures, in the Chapman, South Fork, and
Fryingpan valleys is progressing satisfac-
torily. In the Divide Tunnel, the contractor
has drilled through the concrete plug, and
has excavated into the grouted area approxi-
mately 8 feet beyond the old heading.
Groutable rock bolts and steel supports are
being installed in this section. To provide
additional support, the contractor is shoot-
ing concrete into the arch, sides, and invert
of the tunnel. The present heading is about
4,882 feet from the west portal.

The contractor for construction of the
Sugar Loaf Dam and the roads has completed
essentially all of the contract. Remaining
work consists of minor cleanup items and
road surfacing. Storage in Turquoise Lake,
which was started on April 15, 1968, now
amounts to 14,158 acre-feet.

I

The contractor for construction of the
subgrade and structures for the relocation
of the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad
at the Pueblo Reservoir has completed 82 per-
cent of the contract in 49 percent of the
contract time. Excavation and embankment
work are progressing well, and all major
structures are nearing completion. The out-
look is good for the work under this contract
to be essentially completed by late fall.

Various transmission and telephone line,
relocations at Ruedi, Sugar Loaf, and Pueblo
Reservoirs are under way or nearly completed.
Going to the Upper Colorado River Storage
