1

I

"'J...~oJ

as our position here in Colorado is concerned.

We also, just a couple of days ago, sent
out copies of the last hearings, the May
hearings, on H.R. 4671. We have only a limited
number of those hearing reports but they were
sent to the members of the Board and generally
to members of the Colorado River Advisory Com-
mittee. If anyone has a special interest in
that report and has not received a copy, we do
have a few copies left that can be mailed upon
request to our office.

The Subcommittee report, copies of it,
were prepared by the Upper Colorado River Com-
mission, along with a short explanatory letter.
Mr. Goslin is present here today. He has been
in Washington almost constantly for the last
six months. IvaI, can you give us a report on
what's going on 1tlith the bill?"

MR. Their objection to the bill is an
objection to Title II which calls for a study
of an importation of water into the Colorado
River Basin. If it hadn't been for that one
thing the vote would have been l7 to I in the
Subcommittee. I am sure of that.

We've been analyzing the situation there
in Washington quite thoroughly to see what the
possibilities are of getting the bill passed
this year. I believe that it is going to
pass; sincerely I do. I think there are some
difficulties that are going to have to be ironed
out but there is always, in any crowd, a number
of people who are willing to compromise. I
