...I..J..~""

1

Blue Mesa Reservoir, now in its first year
of operation, contains 360,000 acre-feet of
water, with a lake elevation of 7,438 feet. We
will reduce this to about 350,000 acre-feet at
elevation 7,436 feet in the next few weeks.
The reservoir level will then gradually decline
to about 325,000 acre-foot volume at elevation
7,430 by March 1967.

Taylor Park Reservoir is being operated
to stabilize streamflows and enhance stream
fishing between Taylor Park and Blue Mesa.
This operation is made possible by the use of
Blue Mesa storage for reregulating Taylor Park
releases to meet the requirements of the Un-
compahgre Project. Resulting higher levels
in Blue Mesa will also improve the recreation
potential there during the summer months.

Total storage in the combined Upper Basin
reservoirs and Lake Mead is about 4.5 ~~F more
than at this time last year.

Under General Investigations, on the
feasibility investigations, the five Colorado
projects, Animas-La Plata, Dolores, Dallas
Creek, San Miguel, and West Divide, are present-
ly before Congress for action relative to
authorization. The Dolores project report was
submitted to Congress on March lS, 1966, and
the remaining project reports on May 3, 1966.

1

Feasibility designs and estimates for ~.,ens
Dam and Buzzard Creek Dam, features of the
Battlement Mesa Project, are under way. Assem-
bly of design data for other project features
and preparation of the agricultural economy,
water supply, and plan formulation appendices
are in progress. Cooperative studies with
other federal agencies are continuing. A pro-
posed feasibility report is scheduled for com-
pletion early in calendar year 1967.

plan formulation studies, water supply
studies, geologic investigations, engineering
surveys, and preparation of the plan formulation
