CRANDALL:

"Mr. Chairman, members of the Board, and
ladies and gentlemen, first I want to say that
we are delighted that you would be here in
Region 4 and t~ce time to visit one of our most
active and largest current construction activi-
ties. We welcome you and hope you will find
your visit of interest and profit to you.

We too have on file with you a complete
statement of Region 4's activities since a
report was last made to the Board. It is as
follows:

construction activity at Glen Canyon Dam
is centered on completion work in the powerplant
and switchyard, installation of the left diver-
sion tunnel plug and spillway elbow, and erec-
tion of the visitor center overlooking the dam
and reservoir.

On the Curecanti Unit, Blue l'lesa Dam is
substantially completed, and work is proceeding
on the completion contract for the powerplant
and switchyard. You will be visiting tile
Curecanti Unit and see for yourselves the status
of construction there so I'll not dwell on it.

Construction nears the halfway mark on
MOrr01tl point Dam and powerplant. As of June
23, 1966, about 135,000 cubic yards of con-
crete had been placed in Morrow point Dam.
The highest blocks in the dam were about 216.5
feet above lowest point in the dam foundation I
on that date. Rough excavation has been com-
pleted for the underground powerplant chamber,
and concrete placement in the powerplant has
been started.

Satisfactory progress is noted on all
features of the Silt Project.
