<br />23.9 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Director reported on recent developments concerning the proposed <br />Narrows Reservoir in Northeastern Colorado. He said a meeting had been held <br />with representatives of the South Platte District (Bureau of Reclamation), <br />George Epperson and the local committee from Ft. Morgan, R. J. Tipton, Con- <br />sulting Engineer and R.M. Gildersleeve, Chief Engineer of the Water Board. <br />The Bureau has concluded its study regarding the reservoir sites. The <br />Director said that J. H. Knights of the Bureau has agreed to furnish infor- <br />mation, on which a report would be prepared by,the Water Board, for submission <br />to local interests. When the report is ready, the Narrows Reservoir matter Will <br />be reviewed by the Water Board. <br /> <br />The Director reported ontwo recent developments regarding the present <br />status of the Colorado River Storage Project: J. G. ITill has just returned from <br />Washington, with information that the report on the Colorado River Storage <br />Project would be released to interested states for their final comments in <br />January, and (2) that Senator Jatkins proposed to introduce in the Congress a <br />bill for authorization of the Project. The Director said the Watkins bill may <br />or may not be satisfactory in Colorado, depending on the State views expressed <br />in the series of hearings to be held in Colorado, and the result of further <br />studies to be made qy the Board's staff. <br /> <br />The Director summarized a schedule of special meetings and conferences <br />engaged in since the last meeting of the Board, by the Director and others of <br />the staff: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />December 22, 1950 - Meeting at Pueblo concerning Arkansas Valley <br />phases of the agricultural program. (Stone) ""-. <br />January 5, 1951 - Meeting of special committee~,consider'pro- <br />posed revisions and amendments ;f'~he'Water <br />Conservancy District Act of 1937. (Breitenstein- <br />Stone)' . <br />January 6, 1951 - Further conference on revision of operating <br />principles of proposed Fryingpan-Arkansas Project. <br />January 9, 1951 - Meeting on engineering phases of irrigation in the <br />Arkansas Valley, under the A-W-R program. <br /> <br />Minutes of the December 18, 1950 meeting of the Board were approved. <br /> <br />It was announced another meeting of the Board will be held soon, to <br />consider the revision of operating principles for the proposed Fryingpan- <br />Gunnison Project, but that definite date for such meeting must be decided later. <br />
