We would like to have estimates made on
the feasibility of making a pressure tunnel,
or lining the present rock part of it with
concrete so as to increase the flow. I I
believe the Bureau now realizes the fact
that about half of that Gunnison Tunnel is
through solid rock which is rough, and
turbulence in the water cuts down the flow.
We have thought of possible development
on the Uncompahgre to make up for that lack
of water through the Gunnison Tunnel
which might be better. But we would like
both possibilities investigated with the
idea in mind that there will be times when
there is not enough water available from the
Gunnison River to provide that water even
should the tunnel carry it. At the present
time we are releasing from the Taylor
Park Reservoir 950.second feet of water to
get 925 feet through the tunnel. That
would,indicate there is not only water
available to us, but we also lose about 25 feet,
We would like to use the Gunnison Tunnel
while the water is available from the
Gunnison River and then resort to storage
on the Uncompahgre when the water is
not available."

gave you a report pretty much in detail.
The wheels of progress move slowly. What
I may say today may only add to it. I want
to compliment ~our very able manager of the
Uncompahgre Project. In the last five years
we have heard many complimentary remarks.

This brings us to the Small Projects
Act. It has been signed by the President.
We feel there was, some miscue in there and
any corrections would take another law. The
Secretary was directed to take the steps
that may be necessary to start formulating
rules and regulations and receive applications
for loans under that Act, knowing there
