"Using Mr. Sweet's figures, two to
three thousand acres would be taken out
of cultivation to meet, say, 60 second
feet. Many times you are letting water
out anyway. Actually you would not get
through any amount like that. Assuming
2500 acres, a profit of $50 an acre on
that land would amount to $125,000 a
year. That would be less than the fish losses
which are $180,000. But looking at it
from the standpoint of the State of
Colorado, the whole state, perhaps it can
be worked out better to have more water.

Wildlife Service buy 5000 acre feet and
store that water and have it released when
