"We.do not feel it would. The reservoir
would fluctuate too much.-

"At the time the river is dry, is not the
same stream coming through the reservoir?"

"Yes, sir. You would have the same poor
stream. The Rio Grande river upstream has silt
in it quite badly. Don't know whether that
silt has washed in or whether occasioned by
irrigation. As a fishing stream, that part
hasn't anywhere near the value.-

"What is the distance upstream from the
reservoir site to the headwaters?n

"It is a long distance; at least fifty miles,
maybe seventy to a hundred miles that fishermen
have used the stream. Upstream quite a bit is
inaccessible. Elderly people have to pick
their fishing spots, and go where it is not
too hard to get around.-

."Do you have any figures on the fifteen
miles between the reservoir and South Fork?"

"Five miles is unrestricted. About half
of the balance is open to fishing by guests.
You have tremendous fishing p~essure there.
Very heavy. People have summer homes and have
heavy investments.-

"Actually there is no fishing below Monte
Vista, is there?"

"Yes, there is fishing below. Below
Alamosa most of the fishing is winter fishing."
