Try to work together and get along together. State
line ~hould not cause a division in projects which interest
both Colorado and New Me~i"co. . I think Mr. Riter's suggestion
is very acceptable to me. We must negotiate with New Mexico."

Mr. Dille seconded'the motion that Mr. Crawford
write to New Mexico re~arding its views with respect to
the La Plata-Animas Project.

The motion was unanimously c~Iried.

Mr. Bailey introduced Mr. John Goeffrey Will, Attorney
for the Upper Colorado River Commission to express his
views with regard to aqtivities of the Commission.

Mr. Will made.the following statement: "I think
that this Board is entitled to a report from me regarding
the activities of the Commission. While
r was in Washington r had the opportunity to note, superficially
of course, because time was limited, the figures of the reduced
appropriations for the functions of the Bureau of Reclamation
in the West, recommended by the Interior Sub-committee of the
House Committee on Appropriations. Now r know, of course,
that annually at about this time we are accustomed to 1
receiving the report of the Interior Sub-committee of the
House Committee on Appropriations in regard to cutting on
expenditures and consequently on programs for the 17 western
states. But of course we are accustomed, too, to relaxing
a bit, realizing that the true friends of the West, and you
understand of course that I am speaking from a non-partisan
point of vie~ tqe tr.ue friend of the West, ~ho~e who understand
