S. <br />Bureau of ~ines; one from USGS one from the Denver Water <br />Commission, former Chief Engineer Gross; one from the <br />Colorado River Conservation Board; one from the Co1orado <br />Water Conservation Board; and one is expected from the City <br />of Colorado Springs making 12 members on the Committee. Their <br />objectives are to secure and arrange the latest data with <br />regard to all phases of water supply on Western Slope." <br /> <br />Mr. Riter stated they asked the various member,s at <br />the meeting on April 16.to send in available data to be <br />analyzed. <br /> <br />Mr. Crawford next described the Engineering Liaison <br />Committee. He said he got in touch with the office .of the <br />State Engineer, and asked that a Liaison Committee be~et up, <br />composed of the seven irrigation division engineers from <br />the State Engineer's office, to give information and advice <br />to the ConFerence Committee regarding water supply matters <br />in their districts. Through information from the Conference <br />Committee, the Liaison group will keep informed regarding <br />the work of Engineering Research Committee and to advise <br />their constituents. <br /> <br />Mr. Crawford briefly reviewed the action taken with <br />regard- to an industrial survey of the Western Slope. He <br />said "The Conference Com~ittee has had some publicity on <br />account of the appointment of an organization to do an <br />industrial and economic sUrvey on the Western Slope and thus <br />determine the number of people and types of industries that <br />might ,be expected in that area. The organization.selected <br />and recommended, is the-Bureau of Business Research of the. <br />-University of Colorado. At the last meeting of the Conference <br />Committee, Mr. Crampon, of this organizati~n was called in <br />and told it would be recommended to the Board by the Conference <br />Committee and a commitment was madei of $1500 to'be 'spent within <br />the next thirty days in order to get started on the survey." <br /> <br />Regarding the matter of Engineering Consultant, the I <br />Director reported that a list of 14.consultants,had been <br />II reduced to five, and that one of the five had been contacted <br />and spoken to, but not engaged. This one is the unanimous <br />choice of the Conference Committee, and is studying the <br />proposition at the present time. <br /> <br />4. The item of substitutes, alternates, new members, how <br />designated, etc., was next outlined by the Director, to the <br />Board. He said "There are occasions when the regular member <br />is not able to attend; sometimes he would like to appoint a <br />substitute. Perhaps there should be an alternate.for each <br />one of the regular members. It is not felt that the me~ber <br />himself has the power to appoint a substitute to take hls pl~ce; <br />
