In a
short while the selected contractor will begin work to address the river issues that were
identified. I am happy to update the Board on the current status of the study. This
memorandum focuses on the work of two meetings held in the fall of 1997 and on the
work being conducted right now.

DISCUSSION

On September 15, 1997 a meeting was conducted at the Basalt Town Hall to develop a
2nd draft of the Scope of Work for the Roaring Fork and Frying Pan River Multi-
Objective Study. The meeting used as a starting point the results of Scoping Meetings
held in the Roaring Fork Valley in November 1996 and the results of discussions with
local officials during the intervening months. The major tasks of the September 15
meeting were:

TASK 1

To agree on hierarchy for the river issues identified as important,
ranging from most important to less important

Roy Romer
Governor

James S.
