Stapleton: Before we get the next agenda item, Representative Spano, <br />I hope you will report to your colleagues in the legislature that this <br />isn't a canned session of our board. <br /> <br />Larry, I noticed on the second page, that you say a cominittee was <br />appointed. I would like to point out that so far as i kno~ it wasn't <br />appointed by the board; is that correct? <br /> <br />Mr. Sparks: That is correct. <br /> <br />Mr. Stapleton: All right. These I think are important matters. I <br />would like to as much as possible have you tell us what appointments <br />you want to make to these board's. I would like to make thl;! appointments <br />with the approval of the board itself and they can certainly overrule <br />my thoughts, but I would like to have three members of the board with <br />whomever on the staff you want. And this means for the board that you <br />are going to have to put in more time and more effort. But I think <br />there ought to be more input from the board and I would like a written <br />report that we members of the board report to ourselves and'our col- <br />leagues about so that we just don't take staff recommendations as they <br />may be on these matters. I am not taking anything away from the'members <br />of the committee that were appointed or the staff. I feel sure that <br />any members of this board who are asked to will participate.
