Gentlemen:

It has come to our attention that the Board will
give consideration to a recreational project involving the
Cherry Creek Dam, at its next ~eeting, July 18, 1958,in
Durango. The people of the City of Aurora naturally have a
considerable interest in any such project both by reason of
the proximity to our City and as an owner of decreed water
rights in the South Platte river.

We are concerned, however, as to the availability
of'water for such a project and would recommend that the Board
withhold approval of the project until such time as a complete
investigation and study has been completed. We would naturally
assume that the water for any such project would of necessity
be appropriated pursuant to the water laws of the State of
Colorado.
