"May I comment on that Mr. Chairman?
I think I reported at the last meeting that
I attended this meeting; that I am a member
of the Committee on Irrigation and Reclama-
tion. I think I advised you also that I had
talked to the Governor while in Washington
about this organization and that he express-
ed appreciation that I was there and on that
Committee.

Frankly gentlemen, it had been told to
me, or rather called to my a~tention pre~
viously, that our Director had been designat-
ed to serve on regional committees in the past
but that when they enlisted their other
officers, Colorado was glaringly in the absence.
This Rivers and Harbors group seem to carry
a rather powerful club in the East and is com-
posed to a great degree of members of the
Congress. It would seem to me, in line with
some of the discussion I have heard recently
and I believe you could confirm it with the
Governor, that that contact should be contin-
ued and in addition, since they have finally
recognized western reclamation, I do not be-
lieve we will be in very good grace if we do
not support the organization. That is the
only comment I have to make."

"The Assistant Attorney General could
state for us whether this is so. Apparently
we have in the past."

MR. BARNARD,JR.:. "Apparently we have."

MR. GILDERSLEEVE: "We paid that- membership fee of $100.00
last year and I have the bill for this year.
If we are authorized by the Board, I would
pay that."

"Apparently there are funds appropriated
out of which it'can be paid. What budget fund
did it come out of?'
