I am sure there are reasonable <br />people on the Western Slope and on the <br />Eastern Slope who are willing to immediately <br />remove this cloud. I do not think anything <br />further need be said about it except that <br />active steps are now being undertaken to <br />attempt to resolve the difficulty." <br /> <br />"I was requested by the Colorado River <br />Water Conservation Board to present to the <br />Chairman of this Board a copy of a motion made <br />at the River District meeting in Glenwood <br />Springs. I will read this motion and give <br />the copy to Mr. Moses. The person making this <br />motion was Judge Dan Hughes: <br /> <br />'I move that in connection with the conditional decree <br />on the Basalt Project and the suggestion made to us by Governor <br />McNichols that we honor the Governor's request and appoint a <br />committee consisting of the present executive committee, our at- <br />torney and secretary"to meet with the Governor of the State of <br />Colorado and such party or parties as he may determine for the <br />purpose of finding, if possible, a mutual ground upon which we <br />can proceed with the present water adjudication in Garfield County <br />and further that our attorney be instructed to request the Court <br />to delay proceedings on the petition for reopening the filing in <br />said proceedings until efforts to find a common ground of proced- <br />ure has been exhausted and further that the Governor be given the <br />copy of the suggestion at the earliest possible date with the re- <br />quest that he immediately proceed to set up the meeting as <br />suggested and requested by him and that the attorney and secretary <br />of this district be directed to take a copy of this resolution <br />to the Chairman of the Colorado Water Conservation Board at its <br />meeting in Durango, Colorado, on July 17, 1958.'" <br /> <br />MR.
