State. I am sure there are reasonable
people on the Western Slope and on the
Eastern Slope who are willing to immediately
remove this cloud. I do not think anything
further need be said about it except that
active steps are now being undertaken to
attempt to resolve the difficulty."

"I was requested by the Colorado River
Water Conservation Board to present to the
Chairman of this Board a copy of a motion made
at the River District meeting in Glenwood
Springs. I will read this motion and give
the copy to Mr. Moses. The person making this
motion was Judge Dan Hughes:

'I move that in connection with the conditional decree
on the Basalt Project and the suggestion made to us by Governor
McNichols that we honor the Governor's request and appoint a
committee consisting of the present executive committee, our at-
torney and secretary"to meet with the Governor of the State of
Colorado and such party or parties as he may determine for the
purpose of finding, if possible, a mutual ground upon which we
can proceed with the present water adjudication in Garfield County
and further that our attorney be instructed to request the Court
to delay proceedings on the petition for reopening the filing in
said proceedings until efforts to find a common ground of proced-
ure has been exhausted and further that the Governor be given the
copy of the suggestion at the earliest possible date with the re-
quest that he immediately proceed to set up the meeting as
suggested and requested by him and that the attorney and secretary
of this district be directed to take a copy of this resolution
to the Chairman of the Colorado Water Conservation Board at its
meeting in Durango, Colorado, on July 17, 1958.'"

the fast action that was taken in sending the
telegram to Congressman Aspinall last week.

Washington in the hearing room at the time I
Mr. Saylor made his attack on the Fryingpan-
Arkansas project. Frankly, I was authorized
by Congressman Aspinall to ask for reaffirm-
