<br />595 <br /> <br />furnished us with copies of specifi- <br />cations and a bidding invitation <br />covering an area of 42,000 aCres along <br />the Colorado River between De Beque and <br />Rifle. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />It is depirable to have the topo- <br />graphic mapping of this area completed <br />as soon after July 1, 1957, as possible. <br />This will permit the land classifica- <br />tion to be commenced in 1957 instead of <br />the following season, which would be the <br />case if the Bureau contracted for the <br />mapping in their next fiscal year. <br /> <br />We have invited proposals' by Jan'- <br />uary 15th, from nine reliable companies <br />engaged in aerial surveying and mapping, <br />specifying a completion date of August <br />15, 1957 or sooner, if possible. The <br />replies received to date indicate tha.t <br />at least two bids will be within the <br />amount of $55,000 which was authorized <br />by the Board to be expended for this' <br />purpose. <br /> <br />The proposals will be reviewed <br />immediately w~th representatives of the <br />Bureau of Reclamation as to qualifica- <br />tions and proposed work schedules of <br />the bidders. A contract with the suc- <br />cessful bidder will then be executed' <br />as soon as possible." <br /> <br />1'1R.
