Jerman, who spoke to you briefly <br />this morning, I trust is here to give us <br />his report on all the participating pro- <br />jects." <br /> <br />Mr. Jerman gave the following report: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />PROGRESS OF INVESTIGATION REPORT COLORADO -- REGION 4, Bu~EAU <br />OF RECLMJIATION FOR JANUARY 17, 1957 MEETING OF THE COLORADO <br />WATER CONSERVATION BOARD <br />Denver, Colorado <br />by <br />Reid Jerman <br /> <br />Colorado River Storaqe Project Construction <br /> <br />Only 2 bids were received on December 18 for con- <br />struction of the steel arch bridge at Glen Canyon Dam:site. <br />While the low bidder was approximately $1,100,000 above the <br />engineer's estimate, it is expected that a contract will be <br />awarded. Invitations are now out and bids are scheduled to <br />be opened on February 28 for the major contract on the dam <br />and powerplant. Diamond drilling activities on Flaming Gorge <br />Dam site have been essentially completed and contract has <br />been awarded to Wansgaard Construction Company of Logan for ' <br />construction of the initial section of access road from Lin- <br />wood, Utah. Plan formulation studies of the Curecanti Unit <br />are continuing to determine modifications, if any, which <br />should be made in the system of reservoirs and power to be <br />used. The Bureau of Reclamation has requested withdrawal of <br />approximately 68,000 acres of Public domain along the Gunni- <br />son River in connection with the Curecanti Reservoir Devel- <br />opment. ' Borrow area investigation of the Navajo Dam Unit <br />continues uninterrupted. <br /> <br />Collbran Project <br /> <br />The Bureau of Reclamation is ready to initiate con- <br />struction of the Collbran Project, as soon as the repayment <br />contract can be executed with the Collbran Water Conservancy, <br />District. <br /> <br />The Board of Directors of the Collbran District <br />has approved the draft of the repayment contract. It will <br />,be transmitted to the Commissioner of the Bureau of Recla- <br />mation and the Secretary of the Interior at an early date for <br />approval. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Following approval by the Secretary, an election <br />must be held by the Collbran District to authorize the offi- <br />cers of that organization to sign the repayment contract. <br />
