<br />" <br /> <br />l <br />e <br /> <br />Community response: This study was prepared by FEMA in cooperation with the Urban Drainage and <br />Flood Control District (UD&FCD) and the City and County of Denver as part of the National Map <br />Modernization Program. One key element of the Map Modernization Program is community <br />involvement throughout the process. Prior to publishing the new study, a final coordination meeting was <br />held in which members ofFEMA, UD&FCD, CWCB, and the City and County of Denver were present. <br />The study was fully accepted and endorsed by all agencies at this meeting. <br />Staff findings: The subject Flood Insurance Study revises and therefore supersedes previous versions of <br />the City's regulatory floodplain information. CWCB staff has determined that the subject floodplain <br />information for the City and County of Denver is in conformance with the CWCB's rules and regulations <br />for floodplain designation and approval. <br />Staff recommendation: Staff recommends that the Board: 1) designate and approve the 100-year detailed <br />and approximate floodplain information contained in said report for the City and County of Denver, and <br />2) authorize staff to prepare a floodplain resolution to be signed by the Director and transmitted to the <br />City and County of Denver, UD&FCD, and FEMA. This action is recommended in order to meet <br />statutory requirements. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Consent Al?:enda Item 3b <br />Floodplain resolution number: FPR 06-591 <br />Affected communities: City and County of Broomfield <br />Name of study to be formally acted on: "Flood Insurance Study, City and County of Broomfield, <br />Colorado" dated August 2004 - prepared by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). <br />Studied streams: The report includes detailed 100-year floodplain information for Airport Creek, Big <br />Dry Creek, Brandywine Creek, City Park Channel, City Park Channel South Tributary, Gay Reservoir <br />Channel, Gay Reservoir Channel North Tributary, Nissen Reservoir Channel, North Branch Airport <br />Creek, Rock Creek, West Lake Channel, and West Lake Channel North Tributary, Quail Creek, and <br />Quail Creek Reservoir. It includes approximate 100-year floodplain information for Little Dry Creek, <br />Great Western Reservoir, Walnut Creek, North Branch Walnut Creek, Preble Creek, Nissen Reservoir <br />No.2, Brunner Reservoir, Mustang Run, and Sack Creek South. Westerly Creek was performed as a <br />detailed study, but due to construction activities at the time of the study, it is being portrayed as an <br />approximate study. The studied streams are in the South Platte River watershed. <br />Tecbnical issues: The City of Broomfield previously occupied lands in Jefferson, Boulder, Adams, and <br />Weld Counties. On November 15, 2001, these lands were consolidated into the City and County of <br />Broomfield. This study, which includes information previously provided for the City of Broomfield in <br />Adams, Boulder, and Jefferson Counties (the Weld County portion had no identified floodplains) is the <br />first study for the City and County of Broomfield. This study includes all major waterways within the <br />City and County of Broomfield and updates the maps to a Geographic Information System (GIS) <br />platform. This restudy incorporates a number of new studied stream reaches, both detailed and <br />approximate.
