.

.~"if;'><Y. '>-':

.

.

b. The Probable Maximum Flood will be developed for the proposed dam. New HEC-I
models will be created.

c. The Corps of Engineers will prepare a report presenting the results of the hydrology study.
The report will contain a detailed description of the drainage area, study methods, pertinent data, risk
and uncertainty, and assumptions made during the course of the study.

2.8 SEDIMENT STUDIES. The Government will perform this item in coordination with the
sponsor. Sediment transport studies will be performed in accordance with Engineer Manual 1110-2-
4000, Sedimentation Investigations of Rivers and Reservoirs.

a. The Corps of Engineers will review any existing studies to determine what changes, if any,
are needed to meet COE criteria.

b. The COE will determine inflowing sediment load; trap efficiency, and maintenance
requirements for any proposed improvements_

c. The Corps of Engineers will perform a sensitivity analysis to account for uncertainty
associated with sediment calculations. . .. , .

d. A report will be prepared to present the. results of the sediment study. The report will
contain a detailed description of the study methods; proposed plan, pertinent data, risk and
uncertainty, and assumptions made during the execution of the Study.

e. Quality Control. The quality control,(Qc) processes described in the QC Plan will be
performed for all work including an independent technical review of all products.

2.9 DESIGN AND COST ESTIMATES. This item will be performed by the Government. This
work will develop designs for alternative development and selection and the detailed design for the
best plan on Oak creek and Oak creek. Initial investigations reveal two possible areas requiring
flood control investigations which have been previously discussed.

a. This initial phase of the work will begin with the conception of alternatives identified for
possible selection of the best plan. The alternatives will be developed and designed to an extent
sufficient to arrive at a project cost estimate required for plan formulation and the selection
process. Upon completion of the selection process, the detailed designed for the best plan will be
initiated. The design of the best plan will be presented in an engineering appendix to the
feasibility study. The appendix will include a narrative of all design features and will include
hydrology, hydraulics, civil engineering design, cost estimating, and geotechnical data. The level
of detail will be in accordance with ER 1110-2-1150. The presented design for the best plan will
be of sufficient detail that no additional planning studies will be required and will serve as basis
for the next design phase.

SECTION B, PAGE 10
