A
brief summary of the studies is presented below.

1. FPR 00-531: Montezuma County, unincorporated areas, Flood Insurance Study dated May
1989 was prepared by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. It includes both
approximate and detailed floodplain delineations for numerous flooding sources within the.
COWlty. This resolution was originally presented to the Board at its November 2000 meeting
in Denver, however the Board requested that this designation be tabled until additional
contact could be made with local officials to verifY their position on the floodplain
designation. This communication has since taken place, and Montezuma COWlty provided.
verbal consent to this Board Action. Therefore, the proposed action for Montezuma COWlty'S
floodplain infonnation is designation and approval by the Board in order to meet statutory
requirements. The CWCB is also preparing a new floodplain infonnation report to provide
technical infonnation to support the 1989 Flood Insurance Rate Maps.

2. FPR 01-541: Ouray County (unincorporated areas), Colorado, Flood Insurance Study
dated July 3, 1995 was prepared by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. It includes
both approximate and detailed floodplain delineations for several flooding sources within
unincolporated portions of the COWlty. There appear to be no major technical problems or
issues with the current floodplain mapping. Community officials were notified of the CWCB's

Flood Protection.
