~
L1~

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED--
That the present indebtedness under this compact
be paid with surface waters as originally intended when
and if climatic conditions will permit.

Saguache County Farm Bureau
Authorized Committee

Vern Howey
Norbert Beiriger
Dean Patterson
T. C. Alexander

(

/s/

I forwarded this to Dean Crawford
under date of letter dated
February 24 which, for the
purpose of the record I will read:

Hon. Ivan C. Crawford, Director
Colorado Water Conservation Board
State Office Building
Denver, Colorado

Dear Dean Crawford:

Herewith I enclose a Resolution adopted by the
Saguache County Farm Bureau objecting to pumping
water to meet the requirements of the.Rio Grande
Compact.

I certainly understand the concern of these
people and I know that everyone is anxious to
learn whether or not the proposed sump water
salvage plan will adversely affect any of the
exisung land owners and irrigators.

In my opinion the investigation which the Legislature
has authorized should go far to give us the answers
to these perplexing questions.

I have no hesitancy in saying that if the
proposed plan does adversely affect existing water
users, that I would not be in favor of such
a project.

On the other hand, if the investigation
demonstrates that the plan will not adversely
affect anyone, I feel sure that they and I will
have to be convinced.

I

Very truly,

MOSES & DeSOUCHET
by/sf Raphael J. Moses

RJM:fl
Enc.
cc: Mr. Clyde ~lexander
