I

I

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. MILLER:
MR. STAPLETON:
MR. MILLER:

MR. SPARKS:

MR. PETERSON:
MR. STAPLETON:
MR. PETERSON:

14::l::l

again at our May meeting when we know what
we can do. I don't think it needs to be a
firm commitment right now."

"All I am interested in is a motion
authorizing the Director at this time to go
back with the authority that this Board will
back him up in what is needed up to $20,000
at this time to get these projects moving."

"Mr. Chairman."

"Mr. Miller."

"My recollection is that we do have such
a resolution on the board generally, author-
izing the Director to set up funds for this
as well as other purposes. Now I am for the
San Miguel and every other project in Colorado.
We did have, I would say, probably one of the
best attended meetings about a year ago on
the Narrowswhich is on the South Platte and
my recollection is that funds could be made
available to the Narrows, to the San Miguel
or to any other project that can be helped.
If we already have such a resolution, then
I think probably this is unnecessary or if
we pass a resolution then I do not think that
any particular project should be given pre-
ference over any other project unless we have
some means of weighing the relative need at
the most. I don't think we ought to short
change anybody."

"May I clarify what Mr. Miller has said.
Our present funds are earmarked for Colorado
River studies. The budget as submitted for
the next fiscal year leaves that open. They
are to be used anywhere in the State, because
we haven't finished with this Narrows Project
and it is very possible that we are going to
have to contribute some money to that project
this next fiscal year. We anticipated that,
as a matter of fact, but under our present
budget we cannot do anything but spend this
money on Colorado River investigations."

"Mr. Chairman."

"Mr. Peterson."

"To clarify the statement made by Mr.
Miller, I believe there was a resolution
