I

I

MR. YOUNG:

MR. STAPLETON:

J.4,/;v

approximately fifty percent, and if the
Bureau men transfer out of those offices
into other areas of the Bureau of Recla-
mation and some of them resign, then next
year when the monies go back up when this
economy drive isn't as potent as it is right
now, there will be the proposition of having
to rehire men, reclaim men, which will amount
to the Colorado projects being delayed in
their investigation, in their authorization'
reports, at least one year and probably two
years, and it will mean the retraining of
personnel.

Now it seems to us that the situation
is somewhat critical because Colorado is
already far behind the development and in-
vestigation status of the other states. If
we allow this to go on uncorrected, we are
merely going to be further behind in our
Colorado development.

I would like at this time to introduce
Mr. Mike Young, President of the San Miguel
Conservancy District, who has a sum of money
that they have raised through the local con-
tributions down in the Norwood area. If they can use it, we would cer-
tainly appreciate every effort that they can
make for the solution of this problem.u

uThank you, Mike. I would like to ask a
few questions before we turn back to Larry.
How do you arrive at $20,000? What did you
