<br />, <br /> <br />Ute Water Conservancy District - Plateau Creek Pioeline <br /> <br />Authorization: SB 88-30 County: Mesa - E of Palisade <br />Water Source: Grand Mesa Drainage Project Yield: 7,200 ac.ft. <br />Terms of Loan: $7,600,000 @ 5% for 30 years Project Type: Pipeline Construction <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />This project is the replacement of an existing IS-mile pipeline providing water to the Ute Water <br />Conservancy District. The District provides water to 55,000 people, or more than half of the Grand <br />Valley population. The Environmental Assessment was heavily scrutinized by the Fish and Wildlife <br />Service relative to the Recovery Implementation Program along the lS-miIe reach. This analysis has <br />resulted in the Bureau of Land Management (the lead federal agency) requiring an Environmental <br />Impact Statement be prepared before federal approval can be granted. The Record of Decision <br />regarding the EIS was completed in June 1998. Camp, Dresser, & McKee, Inc. of Denver is currently <br />preparing the project design for a construction commencement in early 1999. <br /> <br />DNR - Division of Wildlife - Native Aauatic Species Restoration Facilitv <br /> <br />Authorization: SB 98-1189 <br />Water Source: San Luis Valley Aquifers <br />Terms of Loan: $2,000,000 Grant <br /> <br />County: Alamosa - W of Alamosa <br />Project Yield: N/A <br />Project Type: Aquatic Species Hatchery <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />This project is the construction of a Native Aquatic Species Restoration Facility just west of <br />Alamosa. The project is being managed and 60"10 funded by the Division of W1ldlife. FishPro, Inc. of <br />Port Orchard, Washington is currently preparing construction plans and specifications. Construction is <br />scheduled to commence in June 1999 with completion scheduled for June 2000. <br /> <br />Denver Museum of Natural HistOry - Denver Basin Aauifer Geo-Hvdrnlogic Core Studv <br /> <br />Authorization: SB 98-1189 <br />Water Source: Denver Basin Aquifers <br />Terms of Loan: $90,000 Grant <br /> <br />County: Elbert - S of Kiowa <br />Project Yield: N/ A <br />Project Type: Geo-Hydrologic Study <br /> <br />This project is the acquisition of a 2,000-foot core of the Denver Basin aquifers near Kiowa in <br />the central Denver Basin. The purpose of the core is to help develop an integrated hydrologic and <br />geologic framework for the Denver Basin aquifers. This will enable State, County, and municipal <br />planners to promote appropriate development of the Basin's water resources. This core-drilling a <br />project is part of a three-year National Science Foundation research study that will focus on the ,., <br />evolution of the Denver Basin and its landscapes. Drilling is planned to begin March 1, 1999. <br />
