Fountain Creek Watershed Proiect A
Authorization: HB02-1152 Grant Amount: $300,000 ..
Water Source: Fountain Creek Project Type: Watershed Study and Plan
Location: Entire Fountain Creek Watershed Project Manager: Brian Hyde
Beneficiary: Pueblo County, EI Paso County, Telle~ County and 8 municipalities

This project is a watershed study of the entire Fountain Cree~ watershed from the headwaters of Fountain Creek
(near Woodland Park) and of Monument Creek (near Palmer !Lake and Monument) to the confluence of
Fountain Creek with the Arkansas River in Pueblo. The study is being conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers (Albuquerque District) at a total cost of $3,000,000. Half of that cost is being paid by the Corps of
Engineers and the other half is being paid by local and state sponsors. CWCB is contributing $300,000 of the
$1,500,000 local-state share and the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) is also contributing
$300,000. The 3-year study will address flood control, erosiQn, sedimentation, and environmental restoration
problems. Once conceptual alternatives (both structural and hon-structural) have been developed, evaluated,
and prioritized, it is expected that the specific implementatio~ projects will be "spun off' the study, based on
other funding authorities of the Corps of Engineers or other agencies. Work on the project began in April 2003
and will continue until approximately April.

6.

Statewide Drainage Criteria Manual
Authorization: HB02-1152
Water Source: All Colorado Streams
Location: Statewide

Grant Amount: $150,000
Project Type: Technical Manual
Managers: Larry Lang 1 Tom Browning
Sponsor: CWCB
Beneficiary: All Colorado Communities

e

WRC Engineering has completed the initial version of the Slatewide Drainage Criteria Manual (Manual) for
their phase I contract and has begun work on the phase II contract that will nearly complete the manual.
