It
was the powerplant authorized by the terms
of the Colorado aiver Basin Project Act last
year. The plant is to be constructed on the
Navajo Indian lands near Page, Arizona. The
federal government is to prepay a part of
the cost of that plant. The plant is actually
being constructed by a combination of power
interests, including the Salt River Project
and the Southern California Edison Company."

"Would that 40,000 acre-feet be credited
to the Lower Basin's amount of water?"

"This 40,000 acre-feet is to be credited
to Arizona's Upper Basin allocation. Arizona
has entered into an agreement with the Secre-
tary that if this amount exceeds the Upper
Basin allocation, then it will be deducted
from Arizona's share of Lower Basin water."

"How about the 102,OOO?"

"What page are you referring to?"

"Page 7, second paragraph."

"Under Lake Powell water."

"This is from Utah's allocation. This
has to do with the construction of a power-
plant in the Kaiparowits area. This would
come from Utah's upper Basin allocation."

"If it is used for power, where does that
water go then?"
