made to the Bureau to help expedite the studies
by the following: Great Northern Water Con-
servancy Distri7t, Juniper Water conservancy
District, Colorado River Water Conservation
District, and the Colorado Water Conservation
Board.

I

The Upper Gunnison Project is progress-
ing well. We are now doing our geological
explorations on the Elko Damsite on Tomichi
Creek. As soon as those are finished we will
move on to the other dam sites, with the
hopes of getting most of our design data com-
pleted this summer so that we can complete
our feasibility report in FY 1971.

The Yellow Jacket proposed feasibility
report was submitted in October to the Com-
missioner's office and federal, state, and
local agencies for comment. upon receipt of
these comments the report will be revised
and transmitted to Washington for further
action. A work group made up of representa-
tives of federal, state and local agencies
has met several times to resolve bi~ game
measures recommended by the fish and wildlife
interests. We are making some progress and
the Game, Fish and Parks Division is working
towards that end to work out a suitable plan
that will be acceptable to all.

Under our preconstruct ion activities,
we are progressing well on our Fruitland
Mesa Project in preparation of design data
for the final design specifications. We
have received approval of the repayment con-
tract by the Secretary of the Interior, that
is, approval as to form. The district has
tentatively approved it and they are now
making preparations towards their election.
They are planning to set the election up for
June, next month, so they can sign the con-
tract. Then we will be ready to go. So
Fruitland Mesa is essentially ready to go
just as soon as Congress or somebody will

I
