Rod Kuharich
May 28, 2002

.

Since the state of Colorado is in a severe drought, I hope the Water Conservation Board will
approve this proposal at its July meeting. Also, I request that the Water Conservation Board
declare that the Denver Metro area is in a "period of severe and protracted drought" to fulfill
the requirements of the contract between the United States of America and the State of.
Colorado related to when Chatfield Reservoir water levels can go below elevation 5,432 mean
sea level. Shortly after Water Conservation Board approval and drought declaration, I hope
you will join me in asking the Corps to also agree to Denver's proposed drought operation at
Chatfield Reservoir. If you have any questions about our proposal, please contact me at
david.little@denverwater.org or 303-628-6533.

Si~)Jjt

Dave Little
Manager of Water Resource Planning

cc: Tim Carey, Project Manager, Corps of Engineers, U.S. Department of Army
Lyle Laverty, Director, Natural Resources Department of Parks and Outdoor
Recreation Division of Colorado State Parks

.
